This project provided Baldwin General an excellent opportunity to work as CM/GC with the owner in developing cost effective solutions for a wide range of issues. The building’s age necessitated replacement of the utilities infrastructure from point of municipal connection into the building. Structural strengthening of the roof and walls included steel moment frames to provide lateral support to the un-reinforced masonry walls; fabrication and installation of structural steel shapes, assemblies and seismic components including collector elements, bent plates, strong backs and strapping to bring the existing roof diaphragm up to current standards. Exterior components include parapet wall construction, stucco architectural features, store front systems and steel canopies. Inside, custom steel fabrication, stained concrete floors; curvilinear partition walls, artisan casework and sophisticated low voltage display lighting complete the renovation.
