Baldwin General renovated the historic Salem Heights Elementary School with the primary goal of preserving the original architectural design while performing improvements in every area of the building. The project included limited exterior work, including painting, replacing 30% of the windows, and sealing the existing historic windows. Additional exterior work included resurfacing parking lots and repairing and replacing areas of the original wood siding. The interior scope involved a complete flooring replacement, painting, re-piping of domestic water, and replacing plumbing fixtures, installing new ceiling tile and restorative finish carpentry. The project featured improvements for the hearing-impaired in 10 classrooms consisting of sound attenuating panels and new voice / data infrastructure.
